“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:8–13).
Love, the God kind of love, doesn’t fail. It doesn’t grow old. It doesn’t fade away. It doesn’t cease to exist. It’s eternal. It’s the supreme law of the kingdom of God.
But temporary things will end. The things which we only partly know will cease. Why? Because we’ll know as we are known. Incredible as it may sound, the Bible says it will be. We will no longer need tongues and interpretation of tongues. We will no longer need prophecy. We will be with Him face to face. We will walk with Him in a perfect manner. We will walk with each other in a perfect manner.
Now, we only see things dimly. We only get glimpses of our new life in Christ Jesus. We’re leaning, building, and growing. We’re children, but then we will be mature adults. We will see Him as He is. No more dimness.
At that time all there will be no need for the mirror we look at. The clouds will be rolled away. Our eyes will see clearly. Our past life will be gone. What we will have is faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Stay strong and prepared!
