At the end of World War Two, Stalin made a move to bring all of Germany under his rule. He started with West Berlin. He sealed off West Berlin from Western Powers with the hope that the West would surrender the city to his control. The Scheme didn’t work. The Berlin Airlift, set up by the United States, crippled his plans, and, to his chagrin, brought into being NATO. On May 12, 1949, Stalin ended the blockade.
Having lost Berlin, and knowing that military might wouldn’t break up NATO, Stalin turned to the tried and true “science” of disinformation. The age old Russian weapon used by the Tsars, and now the communists, of emotional manipulation and deceit. And he started with anti-Semitism. Yet, the heart of this ruse was against the United States. Stalin’s plan was to portray the United States as nation taken over by Jewish money and governed by a Jewish owned “Council of the Elder’s of Zion”: Stalin’s slander for the US Congress. Stalin was convinced that Europe’s historic anti-Semitism and fear of war would divide Europe from the US and bring down his number one threat to world domination – the United States.
Stalin called the Cold War, World War Three. It was a war without weapons. It was a war of disinformation.
Stalin appointed Andrey Vyshinsky as the USSR’s minister of foreign affairs, who was an expert in manipulating religion. Vyshinsky was an undercover intelligence officer and headed up Stalin’s war against the Catholic Church. Stalin also appointed another undercover intelligence officer as ambassador to the US named Aleksandr Panyushkin. Another expert at religious manipulation.
Vyshinsky’s mission was to consolidate the USSR’s diplomatic and intelligence arms to create antipathy between Western Europe and the American Zionists, and force the American “occupation” army out of the “Old World continent.” Panyushkin’s undertaking was to sway American leftist to carry out peace movements and demonstrations; essentially to divide the US public and cause distrust of its government.
The first missile of disinformation to be fired into Western Europe was the old Russian forgery, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”. The “Protocols” were done by Tsar Alexander III’s political police, the Okharan. The author was Ivanovich Rachovsky, who was inpired by the recent French wave of anti-Semitism sparked by the Dreyfus Affair. Rachovsky plagiarized “Dialogue in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu”, an 1864 French satire written by Maurice Joly. Essentially what Rachovsky did was substitute the word for France for the word world, and the word Napoleon III for the word Jew. In about 1905, the Okharan republished the “Protocols” under the name of a mystic Russian priest named Segius Nilus. This was part of an antirevolutionary propaganda scheme to turn the publics attention away from the Tsars administration and military corruption. It had a brutal effect. The Russian pogroms against the Jews was devistating. Murder, rapes, and pillaging spread throughout the Russian empire.
In 1921, the “Times” of London published excerpts from the “Protocols” side by side with passages from the “Dialogue” and revealed the plagiarism. Yet, the damage had been done. Hitler took up the cause and had the “Protocols” translated into many languages and distributed throughout the earth. It was the basis for much of Hitler’s anti-semitism in his book, “Mein Kampf”, it is popular reading in parts of the Islamic world, a film was made of the document and broadcast on different Islamic television networks in the early twenty-first century, and has proven a very resilient 117 year old peice of disinformation.
The USSR’s, now Russia and China’s, war of disinformation against the West has proven very effective. Anti-Semitism is on the rise in countries where, not long ago, the Nazi Holocaust was a reminder of the brutal savagery of such beliefs. Not only is anti-Semitism on the rise, but anti-Christianity as well. Stalin’s war on religion is a direct attack on the US Constitution’s First Ammendment: the freedom of religion and free speech: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” (Amendment I).
The “Protocols” can just as easily be written to slander any people group or nation. In fact, that is exactly what Stalin had in mind when he authorized “Operation Zarathustra.” Operation Zarathustra was intended to portray a new wave of anti-Semitism in Germany and was spreading throughout Europe. At the same time the United States was to be portrayed as a Zionist controlled regime. The hope being that Western European powers would distance themselves from the US and give opportunity for the USSR to bring all of Europe into its fold.
The effects of the USSR’s disimformation machine can clearly be seen around the globe. What was once respected and held high is now disrespected. Right is wrong and wrong is right. Friends and family are now to be distrusted or even held as enemies. The guilty are set free and the innocent is held as guilty. The character and strength that made this nation great is considered repressive and racist.
“How can we preserve what we have if we’re not built like the people who created what we have?” (CJ Ortiz, “University of Badassery”) comes to mind.
The “Protocols of the Elder’s of Zion” is a plagerized forgery used to as a disinformation tool to creat division and distrust.
