There’s only one reason I can think of why God created us. It’s the only reason that satisfies my spirit and mind. This may not satisfy you, but I’m 100% convinced.
God created all things. There is nothing that He needs. He is the Self-Existent One. He IS. He was, He will be, but He always IS!
God created us to have someone to love Him as He loves us!
Consider His command: “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37–40; NKJV).
Jesus also said, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12; NKJV).
God wants us to love Him as He loves us, and to love each other as He loves us. He loves us with all His heart, all His soul, and all His mind! He gave His only begotten Son for us!
His love reaches out beyond how we treat Him.
When humanity mistreats Him, He reaches out to save. When we’re unloving, foolish, and disobedient, He reaches out in love to restore, heal, and deliver. When we’re joyful, He shares in our joy and is joyful with us. When we’re grieving, He shares in our grieving and brings comfort.
His command is bigger than how we feel and how we’re treated. We are to love as He loves. When others are unloving, foolish, and disobedient, we are to reach out in restoration, forgiveness, and prayer for them. When others are joyful, we are to be joyful with them. When other’s are grieving, we are to grieve with them and bring what comfort we can.
He’s given us His love to love others with (Romans 5:5).
In His love, God is faithful to us, and He wants us to be faithful to Him. Often we don’t understand the “why’s” of things. But we know God loves us, and we are to love God as He loves us by staying faithful. God can and will teach us and give us wisdom about the “why’s”, but we must love Him as He loves us. In doing so, it show’s God that we love Him, are faithful to Him, and it gives Him time to teach us the “why’s.”
Learning is “line upon line, precept upon precept.” Like education in the natural, spiritual education is the same. We can’t learn it all at one time. Being faithful and teachable gives God the opportunity to instruct us. When we love Him as He loves us, we know God is out for our best interests in times of stress. We can confidently say, “We’re in this together. He will help me to overcome. He will lead me and guide me.” We will say “[He is my] refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling” (Psalm 46:1-3).
Why did God create us? To know Him as He knows us: “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
We know that God is love (1 John 4:16), and God wants to share His love with those that can love Him as He loves them. This is why we were created.
God wants us to love and know Him as He loves and knows us! Perfect fellowship. His children. His family.
Now THAT is exciting!
Stay strong and prepared!
