Mankind

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:26-27; emphasis mine).

In our age when debates and fighting over what sex we identify with and the power struggle between male and female, those of us who’ve decided to serve the God of the Bible need to see things as God does.

In the above scripture, God calls both the male and the female “man.” This is where we get “mankind” or the species of man. It’s not the species of the “male.” There are those who are offended with the term “mankind”, because they are concerned with peoples’ sex and the desire for power. Such is the world in which we live and the cause of so much evil: the desire for riches and power. I understand some of the fear. Throughout human history the quest for riches and power gave cause to slavery, murder, and every evil work. For people to feel protected and safe from their enemies, they would seek riches and power: “For after all these things the Gentiles seek” (Matthew 6:32). It’s a vicious cycle.

In the Kingdom of God it’s different.

In God’s kingdom God we’re all equal. “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34). God treats everyone the same. In-other-words, the love, grace, righteousness, judgement, salvation, and the filling of His Spirit isn’t given because God likes someone more than others, their sex, or their color.

Which brings up another truth. God created the human race and not different color races. Stop using the humanistic, evolutionist term “race” when talking about people. See things the way God sees it, and say things the way God say’s it.

In the Kingdom of God we’re all in Christ Jesus. “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3 26-29). We’re all “sons of God.” What does that mean? It means that we’re found in Christ Jesus, and God treats everyone of us as “Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17). God is no respecter of persons. Does He know what sex you are? Of course! And He knows how to treat the ladies like ladies, the men like men and each of us as individuals.

I’m sure there are many questions you have about some scriptures. Of which there isn’t room to delve into in this blog, but until then, keep in mind that God shows no partiality between male and female.

The male was created first and God named him Adam. Adam means man. The female was taken from the male and was a man with a womb: a woman. They were the mankind species.

What is mankind? It’s the creation of the male and female of the human race.
